URGENT REQUEST: Kerrville Needs Lion Volunteers

Our fellow Texans in Kerrville need our help. The Kerrville Office of Emergency Management (OEM) is now ready to receive Lions to assist in recovery and relief efforts. If your club or members are able to support, please review the list of specific resource needs below and respond as soon as possible.

🔧 Chainsaw Teams

  • Lions who own and know how to operate a chainsaw
  • Bring your own safety gear:
    • Hardhat
    • Safety/sunglasses
    • Boots
    • Long-sleeve shirt and thick jeans
    • Chainsaw oil & generator oil

🌿 Brush Removal Teams

  • Same safety gear as chainsaw teams
  • Bring what you can:
    • Tractor (if available)
    • Shovels and rakes
    • Any other tools for clearing brush

🍔 Food Trailers / Food Service

  • Lions with food trailers or the ability to serve food
  • Follow all safety, health, and cleanliness protocols
  • Bring:
    • Food for the number of meals/days you can serve
    • Support from your club or community for donated food supplies

🤝 General Volunteers

Kerrville needs individual Lions or groups to assist in various capacities:

  • Clergy or spiritual support
  • Volunteers for shelter support (assisting evacuees)
  • Help receiving and organizing donations
  • Cataloging donations and supplies
  • Volunteers to assist with displaced pets and animals

📋 Volunteer Survey & Assignments

To help us coordinate efforts efficiently, all interested Lions are asked to complete a brief survey (see: https://forms.gle/qSo21nyhErtbu5ei7) to provide accurate contact information and indicate the specific volunteer roles they are able and willing to perform.

Emergency Management (EM) officials will use this information to reach out and assign tasks based on current needs. If your skills match a need, you will receive a call with your specific assignment and instructions.

Please note: Completing the survey does not guarantee you will be called, as assignments depend on the evolving situation and available needs. Your willingness to serve is deeply appreciated regardless.

🛏️ Logistics & Accommodations

The Lions of Kerrville will do their best to host volunteers in members’ homes; however, space is very limited. All volunteers should come prepared for self-sufficiency.

Bring your own:

  • Blanket
  • Pillow
  • Toiletries
  • Towel
  • Washcloth
  • Be ready to sleep in your vehicle if necessary

Support on-site includes:

  • Walmart in Kerrville has generously provided access to washing machine trailers, restrooms, and shower trailers for all responders
  • Food trailers on site will help feed volunteers
  • There is an abundance of water and ice available—but please bring your own cooler

Thank you for your flexibility and willingness to serve.
